Hello, my name is Devin Merritt and I am a game designer who has been working on games for years now. Video games have been my passion as soon as I got onto my parent's old Dell desktop when I was five years old and played Diablo 2 (I probably shouldn't have been allowed to play Diablo 2 at this age). But nevertheless, my passion for video games started from an early age. I am from New Jersey and moved to California to attend the University of California, Irvine.
I am a recent graduate of UC Irvine. I graduated with a B.A. in Business Economics. I took classes in both programming (Python) and game development (Unity) for my elective courses.
For 3 of my 4 years at UC Irvine, I held an internship at a company in Irvine (Bytes and Bots Labs) where I taught younger students (K-12) both programming and game development. For the programming course, we used Raspberry Pi's along with Python. For the game development course, we used Unity and Scratch. This was incredibly fulfilling, being able to share my passion for games with younger students and showing them how to bring games to life. I also was asked to develop a course curriculum for the game development program, where I built 3 games in Scratch and 3 games in Unity for other teachers to use to help guide students. After a few years at the company, I moved up into a lead marketing/administrative role.
Some of my favorite video games of all time are World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2, Halo 3, League of Legends, Red Dead Redemption, the Fable series, and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
